Almaty region is establishing cooperation with Tengizchevroil. It is planned that the producers of the region will supply their products for the company, including food and workwear. The details of mutually beneficial cooperation during the meeting last Thursday were discussed by Akim of Almaty region Kanat Bozumbayev and CEO of Tengizchevroil Kevin Lyon.
During the meeting, Kanat Bozumbayev briefly spoke about the main directions of socio-economic development of the region, focusing on the investment potential and possible prospects for cooperation:
– Almost all types of industry are developing in the Almaty region now. We are leaders in food products, 42% of the total volume produced in the country. We are developing and will continue to actively develop the logistics industry. This is a good business, as a significant part of the cargo from China to Europe passes through our region. The garment industry is also well developed. We are planning to open another factory soon. We produce high-quality building materials and much more. For TCO, we can supply food, beverages, tires, workwear and shoes, personal protective equipment, since 15% of medical masks produced in the country are manufactured here. Building materials too. From the point of view of energy services, we have some of the best companies in the republic. For example, ASPK-19, Promstroy-Energo. Therefore, I think that together with you we will be able to work actively. I would like to introduce the companies and the tourism potential of the region,” K. Bozumbayev said.
In turn, stressing that Tengizchevroil intends to raise the level of its suppliers, Kevin Lyon suggested sending specialists who are engaged in exporting to the region to get acquainted with the possibilities of agricultural enterprises and to explore ways of cooperation locally. This proposal was supported by the head of the region.
By the way, the share of the manufacturing industry of the Almaty region in the total volume is 82%, and this is the highest indicator in the republic. At the same time, the food industry of the region is represented by 300 enterprises, the construction industry – 239, light industry – 78, mechanical engineering – 50, and another 18 pharmaceutical enterprises.
